Huggies You Never Take Off, Even in the Shower The Whole Appeal Is That You Forget You're Wearing Them A good huggie does its whole job by disappearing....
A good huggie does its whole job by disappearing. You clasp it in the morning, and off it goes with you... into the shower, into the pool, into bed that night. You never once think about taking it out!
And that's exactly why it becomes the piece you actually reach for on ordinary days. School pickup, a quick coffee run, folding laundry at 9pm. The huggie just stays put and keeps you looking finished the whole time.
So how can you shower AND sleep in these? Girl, it all comes down to the metal. Gold filled is a thick layer of gold bonded through heat to a brass core, which is a whole different story from gold plated, where a microscopic layer gets dipped or sprayed on and wears off fast.
Gold filled is required to contain 5% gold by weight, roughly a hundred times what's in a plated piece. Water and sweat and steam do wear on metal eventually, sure. But gold filled and sterling silver are strong enough to shrug all that off and stay slow to tarnish.
I'm about as low maintenance as it gets with mine. I sleep and shower in my huggies every single day, and I still get months, sometimes years, of happy wear out of them.
Before you assume something's wrong with your huggie, hear me out. Their whole magic depends on an exact fit in the latch, and everyday wear can loosen that fit a little. It's totally normal, and it's a two-second fix!
The post that clicks into the latch adjusts by hand. Feeling too loose? Push the post up a hair.
Too tight? Push it down. A little pressure, click it back into place, and you're good to go again.
Comfy-enough-to-sleep-in comes down to two little things: lightweight, and no pokes. That's the whole recipe! A huggie that lies flat against your ear with no post jabbing you at night is one you'll genuinely keep in around the clock.
Sizing helps too. Anything in the 8 to 10 mm range works beautifully for a second or third piercing. We measure top to bottom on the outside, so an 11 mm huggie means 11 mm from the very top edge to the very bottom.
Want a new pair to look forward to without hunting every month? Our Hoop of the Month subscription drops a fresh design in gold or silver right at your door, all on its own. And when you do start to notice wear from constant sleeping in them, take them off at night and tuck them in an airtight bag... that little habit buys you so much more time.
